Something about beginning

                                                       The difficult beginnings

Jack had been interested in music since always because of his big brothers. At the beginning he played the drums, what he appreciated in his further career. He had also tried the piano but he was the best playing the guitar. This caused that he played in some local bands of Detroit. However he didn't feel fulfilled or it didn't give him enough money (he worked then as an upholsterer). And when he met usual waitress - Meg White - he realised that she was very good at the drums, he decided to found the band. However they didn't have enough money. For the first time they performed on the family wedding.

'Let's Shake Hands' was their first maxi single released by independent Italy Records. The cover of CD included different mistakes like The White Strikes or White Stripe. Today all of these versions are very precious among the collectors.

The difficult beginnings were connected, among others, with this that their first album - The White Stripes (1999) was recorded on Jacks' attic. Jack thought that difficult conditions forced them into hard work, so the album was even better. However this album wasn't as popular as they had expected. Only 10 000 listeners had bought it. Next album De Stijl (2000) was quite famous and they went on a concert tour to Japan and Australia. The situation (also financial) became better after they had signed contract with a music company Sympathy for the Record Industry and released an album White Blood Cells (2001). The album was written in 3 days. It became famous around the world and made The White Stripes one of the best bands at all. As most of good bands they had difficult beginnings but thanks to its phenomenal sound and style they quickly became one of the best.
